The VSX-80 offers both RS-232c and IP control, ensuring compatibility with the most popular home automation systems. An extensive list of IP/RS-232c commands ensures that VSX-80 can be used as the center of almost any multi-zone entertainment system.
Roku Ready Certified
Roku makes it easy to stream movies, shows, music and games from over 1,000 content providers to your TV whenever you want them. Simply plug your Roku Streaming Stick into the Roku Certified MHL 2.0 port on the back of your receiver to unlock a great selection of entertainment choices. Control the attached Roku stick from the receiver’s remote control or our free iControlAV5 app for the most convenient access to your favorite entertainment. Roku Streaming Stick sold separately.
Made for iPhone 5 Certification
The VSX-80 gives you instant access to your favorite content and allows you to control it with your smartphone or tablet. It offers the latest Made for iPhone® 5s and 5c Certification. And as a networked receiver, it supports Apple’s AirPlay® music streaming technology, allowing you to enjoy your favorite music with your iPhone, iPod® or iTunes® anywhere in the house.
In addition, Pioneer was the first brand to support HTC Connect™, the only unified approach for streaming music wirelessly from select compatible Android smartphones. HTC Connect is built right into your phone’s music player, making it easy to wirelessly stream your favorite music to your receiver — no separate app required.
The VSX-80 also supports DLNA® 1.5 media streaming, which lets you access your favorite music from a DLNA server or computer connected to the same home network. Not only are compressed music files, such as MP3, WMA, and AAC supported, but also high-resolution files, such as FLAC, WAV, AIFF, DSD, and Apple Lossless.
Multi-Zone Audio and Video
The Multi-Zone capabilities of the VSX-80 allow you to enjoy different sources connected to the VSX-80 in multiple rooms — a perfect solution for custom installers. You can watch a Blu-ray movie in the main room, while someone else is watching another HDMI Source (Roku, Cable, etc.) in another, all controlled by the VSX-1224-K's remote control of Pioneer's iControlAV5 app. The iControlAV5 app is available at no cost from www.AppStore.com or the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app is also available in Google Play (www.GooglePlay.com) for Android devices.
Command In Your Hand
From switching inputs and controlling volume, to exploring all of the new features of your AVR, our all-new iControlAV5 iOS and Android remote control app offers full control of your VSX-80. You can even playback music stored on your phone using our Push Player feature. The app is available at no cost from www.AppStore.com or the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app is also available in Google Play (www.GooglePlay.com) for Android devices
The Power of Wireless
When equipped with the optional AS-WL300 wireless network adapter, the VSX-80 is the ultimate control center of your home entertainment system. The AS-WL300 provides wireless compatibility with applications such as iControlAV5, the AVNavigator, Internet Radio and DLNA® 1.5 Audio Streaming.
High Resolution Support
The Pioneer Elite VSX-80 delivers the high-resolution music playback you demand with support for AIFF, WAV, and FLAC up to 192kHZ 24bit, Apple Lossless up to 96kHz 24-bit, and DSD (SACD) foles at 2.8 MHz. Compressed formats, such as MP3, WMA, and AAC are also supported. Stream these files from your home network, tablet, or even the front USB.
The World Wide Web Is Your Oyster
Internet Radio, Pandora and Spotify*
With Internet Radio, the VSX-80 gives you a wealth of entertainment options. Not only can you enjoy thousands of Internet radio stations around the world with vTuner, you can also access your favorite music from Pandora and Spotify, complete with on-screen album art and music information. Spotify Connect is a premium feature that lets you play and control Spotify with your smart devices.
ESS Sabre 24-Bit DAC
The VSX-80 now incorporates the ES9006 Sabre Premier audio DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter). Typically found on AV receivers twice as expensive, this new DAC provides superior Digital-to-Analog conversion with far less jitter than other DACs.
Simplifying the process of connecting and setting up an AV Receiver, the VSX-80 features our latest version of AVNavigator. Unlike previous versions that required an app download or the installation of a CD-ROM, simply connect the VSX-80 to your network and launch your favorite web browser on virtually any device. AVNavigator will walk you through the connecting and set-up your new receiver. You can even explore new features of your AV receiver using the Interactive Operation Guide section. Just push a button on the virtual remote control and AVNavigator will activate the feature and explain what it does.
The Ease of Green
All Pioneer Elite receivers feature an energy-saving ECO Mode that, when enabled, achieves a standby power consumption of only 0.1 watt. With a host of convenience features, including Network Standby and HDMI CEC support, ECO Mode analyzes your sources in real time, adjusting power consumption accordingly to meet your needs. Or you can manually select the power-saving settings that are right for you.
Customize Your Home Theater to YOUR Room
Advanced Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration (MCACC)
Advanced MCACC creates the optimum acoustic environment for movies and music in any room in the house. Pioneer developed the technology over 10 years ago with the help of professional recording studios. The system, complete with custom microphone and subwoofer EQ (New for 2014), automatically compensates for differences in speaker size, level, and distance, and equalizes the response. Whether you’re watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster or listening to high-resolution music, MCACC will make sure your home theater sounds its best.
Subwoofer EQ determines the distance and characteristics of your subwoofer, and makes adjustments using four different frequency parameters and an extremely low-latency DSP to reduce phase and timing errors that are often found in other room calibration systems.
OSD and GUI
If your home theater system is enclosed in a cabinet, it’s often difficult to know the status of certain functions, such as current volume level. With On Screen Display (OSD), your receiver’s basic information, such as volume, input, and surround mode, will overlay on screen as you make adjustments with the remote, so you don’t have to switch to a blank screen background. This feature can also be disabled if you prefer. Meanwhile, the GUI (Graphical User Interface) lets you easily navigate Internet radio and iPod/iPhone contents. Both the OSD and GUI operate via HDMI.
The AS-BT200 Bluetooth adapter is a simple solution for adding wireless audio to your home theater system. Using the AS-BT200, simply connect your A2DP profile Bluetooth-enabled device to the port on the back the VSX-80 and enjoy your music wirelessly from your iPhone, Android™, PC, laptop or any other A2DP profile Bluetooth-enabled sources. AS-BT200 is sold separately.
