Environmental Management Policy

At Pioneer North America, Inc. (PNA), a subsidiary of Pioneer Corporation, we each take part in the global environmental protection effort. We operate our business lines with commitment to the protection and preservation of the environment in the design/manufacture/marketing/sales/repair of Pioneer products. It is our intent to consider the views of our customers, employees, community, and shareholders as a responsible business committed to continual improvement in environmental management and prevention of pollution. PNA is committed to the following environmental management principles:

  1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations: We will comply with all applicable laws and regulations in connection with environmental protection and will establish programs, procedures, objectives and targets to assure compliance. Compliance with environmental standards and policies will be key ingredients in the training of all employees.

  2. Prevention of Pollution: We will employ management systems and procedures specifically designed to prevent activities and/or conditions that pose a threat to the environment. We will minimize such risk and protect our employees and the communities in which we operate by considering environmentally-friendly technologies and operating procedures. This shall include procedures to anticipate and prepare for handling of environmental emergencies that could potentially occur in the day-to-day operations of our businesses. We will strive to prevent releases of harmful elements to the atmosphere, land or water. We will minimize the amount and toxicity of waste generated and will ensure the safe treatment and disposal of waste.

  3. Continual Improvement: We will continuously seek opportunities to improve our adherence to these principles. We will pay serious attention to the results of environmental audits, and accordingly, will maintain and improve our Environmental Management System, objectives, targets, and related activities through the employment of periodic management reviews.

  4. Communicating Our Environmental Management System Commitment: We will communicate our commitment to Environmental protection to our employees, vendors and customers and make our Policy available to the public.

The ENERGY STAR® symbol is a simple way to identify products that are among the most energy-efficient on the market. Only manufacturers whose products meet the ENERGY STAR® criteria can label their products with this symbol. Choosing an ENERGY STAR® labeled product over a conventional model could save you hundreds of dollars in energy costs. In addition to saving energy, Energy Star® products can also help save the environment by using less energy and minimizing gas emissions that can damage the ozone layer.

Pioneer seeks to maximize performance and energy efficiency. For example, Pioneer has led the industry in developing Plasma Displays that are more energy efficient than those of our competitors. The brightness of our displays has increased 2.6-fold from our first models in 1997. At the same time we have managed to cut power consumption by 34%. Our newer models also include a range of energy-saving features, such as an energy-saving mode and an auto-shutoff mode, which switches the power off when there is no signal for ten minutes.

Energy Star® is a partnership of the U.S. Department of Energy, the US. Environmental Protection Agency, and leading manufacturers like Pioneer. So look for the "Energy Star" logo on Pioneer products on this site to save money and the environment.

In addition to Energy Star®, Pioneer is engaged in several Eco-Friendly Initiatives like Green Procurement, working with suppliers to cooperate in using materials and parts having minimal impact. The LCA (Life-Cycle Assessment) system standardizes development of products that are eco-friendly in terms of product life, materials, energy efficiency, and effect on waste reduction.

The Pioneer Environment Label reflects images of the earth, the environment, and living in harmony.
